Mercearia Portuguesa (“we”, “us”) publishes this site at merceariaportuguesa.com. This policy explains what data we collect and why, in plain language.
Our starting principle
We run without advertising or ad-tech trackers. We collect the minimum needed to run a website and a comment section — nothing is sold to advertisers or data brokers.
What we collect
- Server logs: standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps), kept for security and diagnostics, and not used for advertising.
- Comments: if you post a comment, we store the name, email address and website (optional) you provide, along with your IP address and browser user-agent, to help prevent spam and abuse. Your email address is never displayed publicly or shared with third parties, other than to generate a Gravatar image if you use one (this is a request made directly to Gravatar’s servers by your browser, per Gravatar’s own privacy policy).
- Cookies: a small number of functional cookies (for example, to remember that you’ve commented before) may be set. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- Contact form / email: if you email us, we keep that correspondence to respond to you and, where relevant, to act on corrections or requests.
What we don’t do
- We don’t run third-party ad networks or ad-tracking scripts.
- We don’t sell or share personal data with data brokers or advertisers.
- We don’t build advertising profiles of visitors.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EU/EEA (including Portugal), you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data we hold about you (for example, a comment you posted), and the right to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@merceariaportuguesa.com.
Data retention
Comment data is kept for as long as the comment remains published, or until you request its deletion. Server logs are retained for a limited period for security purposes and then deleted or anonymised.
Where data is stored
This site is hosted with a WordPress hosting provider; hosting infrastructure and any data processed through it are subject to that provider’s own security practices.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
