Marco moved from Milan to Lisbon in 2019 for a job that had nothing to do with football, and got pulled into Portuguese sport anyway within about a month of arriving. He covers Portuguese football and the national sports scene for Mercearia Portuguesa, still slightly bitter that Serie A doesn't get the respect he thinks it deserves. He studied sports journalism in Milan, plays five-a-side badly every Tuesday with a mixed group of Italians, Brazilians and one very patient Portuguese friend who explains the offside rule to him roughly once a month, and considers a matchday espresso non-negotiable.
